Wontons & Sapporo

October 25, 2013  •  Leave a Comment

The Japanese market on 4th street in San Mateo is a not-so-hidden gem. If you're ever looking for a fun, quick and budget meal, I bet you can find all the ingredients here. It is here I discovered wonton wrappers.

You can follow a traditional recipe, or get creative. I followed this classic wonton recipe and experimented with frying them and including them in soup. The third time I used the wrappers I got real crazy and filled them with pear, gorgonzola, and walnut. Every way they were prepared, they were delicious.

Note, pairing with a cold Sapporo will really tie in the meal.
