Having it “all”

November 21, 2012  •  Leave a Comment

I read this article the other day on whether to have children or not, and why five women decided not to. I loved this point one woman made about the “umbrella” we are all placed under – the expectation to have children and that it is a part of “having it all.”

One person may define “having it all” as having a job, marriage and kids.

But in the end, we’re all different people. Our “all” is not the same. My “all” might be traveling throughout Europe and Asia. Your “all” might be having three kids and a husband who carries an Italian leather briefcase. For another person, it may be making a record label or joining the Peace Corps for 15 years.

We are all different people, we all have different and unique dreams, so it’s kind of sad that we’re all placed under the same umbrella.
